Scholastic Book Fair
On Monday our class will visit the Scholastic Book Fair. This is a great opportunity to add books to your children's library. You do not have to send money in with your child that day. Children will be writing wish lists on Monday that they will bring home that night. If you are considering buying books you have a few options. You can send your child in with money during the week and we will send he or she back to the book fair to make his or her purchase. Or you can come to Family Reading Night on Thursday, October 18 from 5-8pm with your child and purchase books then. There will be various teachers as guest readers that evening which the children really enjoy! We hope to see you there!

'Twas the Night Before School
'Twas the night before school started when all through the town
The parents were cheering
It was a riotous sound
By eight the kids were washed
and tucked into bed
When memories of homework
Filled them with dread
New pencils, new folders, new
notebooks, too
New teachers, new friends-their
anxiety grew
The parents just giggled when they
learned of this fright
And shouted upstairs-
GO TO BED-IT'S A SCHOOL NIGHT!
(Author: Unknown)
Tomorrow is the big day and we cannot wait to see you all in the morning!
Get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and we will see you at 8:25!

Class Bears
These are our class bears (and Mrs. Pacciano's daughter, Emily)! There is a class bear for the boys and a class bear for the girls to take home. The students will be naming them the first week of school and then they will be off visiting your families. Every student will get a chance to take the bear home. Please take good care of our class bears and make sure ALL of their belongings are put back in their backpacks. There will also be a journal for the students to write in. The students will write about the adventure they had the night and/or week they get the bear. Feel free to put pictures in or even draw pictures of the special time spent with the bear. But please remember to return the class bears THE NEXT SCHOOL DAY, so another boy and girl can have a chance to have their adventure as well. Very soon the class bears may be coming home with you to hang out for the night!

Welcome to First Grade
Dear First Graders and families of First Graders,
Hurray, hurray! You're a first grader...at last! Ms. Tinc and Mrs. Pacciano have been waiting all summer long to meet you, and we can't wait to take you on the most wonderful learning adventures this year! Get excited--we are going to be reading oodles of the BEST books ever written, conducting fun science experiments, writing and illustrating books just like real authors, solving all kinds of puzzling math problems, and all along the way we'll be dancing, singing, laughing, and having a GREAT time learning together! Some of you may have butterflies flapping around in your little bellies-- maybe some of you are so nervous, you even have whole birds in there! Don't worry. First grade is going to be a BLAST! See you soon, first grader!
